  • What does the Chamber of Commerce do?

The Elko Area Chamber of Commerce is the voice that represents business here in Elko. Our goal is to represent the interests of Elko business through advocacy and by facilitating communication between those businesses

  • Why do businesses join the Chamber of Commerce?

People join the chamber for a variety of reasons; we offer free website space and technical support, the chamber check program, and networking opportunities. Most importantly, we are a leader in the Elko community and joining the chamber is way for local businesses to support the community.

  • What is the Chamber Check Program?

The Chamber Check program is designed to encourage people to buy locally; businesses often buy chamber checks and give them to their employees as awards or bonuses. Chamber checks can be used as money at businesses who are members of the Chamber of Commerce. Look for the sign that says “We Accept Chamber Checks” that many businesses have in their windows.

  • What can you buy with chamber checks?

Chamber checks can be put towards any item at a store that accepts chamber checks

  • Who does the Chamber represent?

The Chamber represents over 500 businesses in Elko, Spring Creek, Carlin, and other cities in the Elko Area.

  • What are the benefits of joining the chamber?

Chamber Members have access to free server space and technical support through Chamber Nation tm . Chamber members can also join the Chamber Check program; participate in our various committees and programs such as Government Affairs and the Elko Area Leadership Institute.

  • I’m not a business owner, what does the chamber do for me?

The Chamber of Commerce is the voice of business, and when the Chamber looks out for business it is looking out for your job. By focusing on keeping money here in the Elko area, the Chamber is helping to preserve local employment. When the Chamber advocates with local government on behalf of business it may be protecting your job. You can also go to the ‘Member Coupons’ and print off coupons for local businesses.

  • How can I found out which businesses are members of the chamber

The membership directory is posted here on the website or you can stop by the Sherman Station and pick up a printed copy
